A Letter From The Editor <3

To start off with the typical stuff: HIIII, I’m Julia Belian, the founder of Fashion Fille. I currently live in Chicago, IL, where I work as the Sample Coordinator and Studio Assistant for a Chicago-based fashion company. I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an emphasis in marketing. But if we’re being honest, I’ve been living and breathing fashion long before any of that.

From dressing up my dolls to planning entire outfits inspired by movies, I’ve loved fashion my whole life. But it wasn’t until the summer of my sophomore year of college that I realized I didn’t just love fashion—I wanted to work in it. So I started looking for every opportunity I could find. I took a fashion class from another university, joined fashion-adjacent clubs, and when I realized CU Boulder didn’t have much in the way of a fashion scene…I created one.

Cue Roam Boulder, CU’s first-ever life and style magazine. I founded Roam to build the creative community I was looking for—and it became so much more than that. I led the direction, managed operations and marketing, and helped launch a platform that gave students a voice in fashion, lifestyle, culture, and art. When I wanted to create even more opportunities in fashion for students? I launched Runway, Roam’s annual fashion show. From creative vision to venue logistics, I ran the show (literally) and proved that yes, fashion can thrive in Boulder. I’m still so proud that both Roam and Runway are going strong and making space for new voices in fashion.

After graduating, I moved to Denver and took a job in event planning at a staffing firm (yes, technically not fashion—but still a job I genuinely enjoyed). A few months in, though, I felt that familiar feeling: I missed fashion. So I reached out to local shows and creatives, eventually working as a marketing director for a fashion show, a volunteer coordinator, and the assistant to a Denver-based fashion designer. That experience not only reconnected me with the industry—it gave me the clarity to create something that was fully mine.

Enter: Fashion Fille.

The name came to me early in my time in Denver. I loved that “fille,” the French word for girl, felt elegant but approachable—qualities I strive to bring into everything I do. At first, Fashion Fille was just a creative outlet: a place to share trend thoughts, fashion news, and career advice. But like all good fashion stories, it evolved. Now it’s a blog, a newsletter, a growing platform—and a love letter to anyone trying to make it in fashion, even when the path isn’t clear.

My goal? To help others find their way in fashion, just like I did. I know what it’s like to crave a space in fashion and not see one, so I made it my mission to help others carve their own paths, too.

Welcome to Fashion Fille. I am so happy you’re here. XO.

Bisous,
